Day 29: Create a Bucket List

The idea behind this exercise is to imagine you’ve been told you only have six months to live – create a list of all the things you’d want to accomplish before you died. This reminds me of the movie The Last Holiday, with Queen Latifah, she found out she was dying so she took her savings and blew it on the things she always wanted to do.

This is great in theory. LOL! But honestly, if I found out I was dying I’d just spend as much time with my son as possible. I’d also be less tolerant of the things in my life that I don’t care for, I’d probably make rash decisions that would impact my last days in a positive way. But, it’s part of the program so, I’ll just list the things I’ve always wanted to do. However, I will say there is nothing on this list that would leave me feeling incomplete or as though my life was unfulfilled if I didn’t get to do it.

So here is my list of the things I’ve always wanted to try/do. Surprisingly, a few of these, I’ve either done or started taking actions toward.

  1. Play Drums
  2. Ballroom Dancer
  3. Travel the world – first stop Canada
  4. Indoor Skydive
  5. Join the mile high club!! LOL! Yea, maybe not
  6. Go rock climbing
  7. Send flowers to myself
  8. Try acupuncture
  9. Write a book
  10. Vacation at an all-inclusive resort on some island
  11. Go on a safari
  12. Bikram Yoga
  13. Learn how to shoot guns/own a gun
  14. Win the lottery – long shot since I don’t play
  15. Get hypnotized
  16. Be a game show contestant – either Family Feud or The Newlywed Game
  17. Meet Oprah
  18. Go to Vegas
  19. Be Debt Free
  20. Master a new language
